New application for New HMO Licence

One application is required per property. If you are applying for several flats in multiple occupation in the same building, each containing more than 5 occupants who form more than 1 household, you will need a separate application for each flat that you own.

You should ensure you have the following required documents, and can upload copies of them as part of your application:

  • A property plan with each room clearly numbered
  • Valid Gas Safety Certificate – this must not be more than 12 months old
  • Valid Electrical Safety Certificate – this must be dated within the last 5 years
  • A copy of the portable appliance test report – this must be dated within the last 2 years
  • Valid Energy Performance certificate – this must be dated within the last 10 years. Please refer to www.epcregister.com to find an assessor or retrieve an existing certificate.

  • A copy of your certificate of having attended a relevant training course
  • A copy of your planning permission, if relevant
  • Room sizes of the property in square meters

Any application submitted without copies of these documents will be returned and the property considered unlicensed until they are received.
